About this item
Traditional timothy hay is mostly uneaten and wasted. We’ve all seen uneaten hays trampled and wasted on the cage floor, but why? Why are some parts of the hay eaten and others not? Introducing our premium Spaghetti hay, which is usually 100% eaten without waste. It also supports dental health through constant chewing.
Don’t be fooled by terms like “First Cut.” Traditional hay is often harvested with long, hard stems to maximize weight and volume. However, the edible tasty parts are the top parts above the stems. Most of the traditional hay is uneaten because guinea pigs and rabbits won’t eat the stems. Compared to the traditionally harvested hay, our Spaghetti hay consists of only the tender parts. We are, of course, the “first cut,” but what really matters is to cut off the stems. Piggies and bunnies love tender greens without stems. They often eat every bit of our hay without waste.
Don’t be fooled by terms like “Sun Dry”. It may sound appealing but it’s just the low-cost, primitive method used by old mills. They cut the hay and leave it in the open air to "sun dry" because they don’t have the modern manufacturing facilities. Hay will turn yellow, lose flavor, and become dusty due to prolonged exposure. Our hay is cleansed and air-dried in a modern factory. The process is fast, allowing our hay to retain flavor and eliminate dust. Compared to the "sun-dried", our hay looks greener, smells stronger, and is more dust-free. Watch how your pets react to it. You will see a noticeable increase in eating enthusiasm and a noticeable decrease in hay waste.
Traditional hay is entangled and prickly, making it difficult to pull out and dispense, and often leaving a mess around the cage. Thanks to modern processing, our Spaghetti hay retains its natural form, which is straight and untangled, resembling Italian spaghetti noodles. Furthermore, our hay is cut into exact lengths to fit into our hay feeder, making it easy to dispense without creating a mess.
Traditional timothy hay comes in bulky bags. Our hay comes in small packs. Unlike big bags, which expose the entire contents to air and humidity once opened, causing it to lose freshness over time, our small packs keep each portion fresh. Opening one pack doesn’t affect the flavor and freshness of the others.
Due to our hay consisting of a significantly higher percentage of tasty parts, resulting in a significant decrease in waste, one pack of our Spaghetti hay, despite its small appearance, can feed two adult guinea pigs for about a week, and the cost is only slightly higher than traditional hay. This is just our own estimates. Your mileage may vary.
We are cost-conscious guinea pig owners just like you. Initially, we used a mixture of 50% Spaghetti hay and 50% traditional hay in order to save costs, but in the end, we switched to 100% Spaghetti hay due to its ease of use. Try our hay and see the difference for yourself.
Spaghetti Hay isn't just for guinea pigs — rabbits love it just as much. The soft, flavorful strands are perfect for their sensitive digestion and dental health, making it a smart, nutritious choice for multi-pet households.
